03.10.2010 IAFF Firefighters for Powell

March 10, 2010
IAFF Firefighters for Powell
Columbia City Council, District 4
I Accept this endorsement with sincere gratitude and will bring Public Safety back to the front line. This campaign has been a grassroots from the beginning and I have traveled many miles walking door to door and this effort is my top priority and on all of the minds of the citizens I have talked with as the first cand...idate to file Jan. 4th. I do not have my head in the sand and do believe that having priority funding to essential services and a watchful eye on "Pork Barrel Spending" using good Conservative Fiscal Responsibility we can turn this and many other issues around and move in a NEW POSITIVE DIRECTION!! Together, we can...

03.09.2010 Endorsement Appreciation
March 09, 2010
I am deeply humpled by todays endorsements from the Columbia Firefighters Association (CFFA) , Police Benevolent Association (PBA) and Firefighter Hourly. Public Safety is a top priority in this campaign and considered an Essential Service. Most importantly, I will find a way to fully restore funding our Police and Fir...e so our citizens can 100% feel safe. As a city, we should be able to give our Police and Fire the best Support, Tools and Training needed to keep our Recruitment and Retention at the highest level, instead of a training ground at the taxpayers expense. The men and women of our public safety departments put our lives in front of their own everyday and for that I say "Thank You".....My head is not in the sand and know the budgets are tight, but using Conservative Fiscal Responsibility and a vision, this can be done........ Together, we can...

03.05.2010 Columbia Considers Water & Sewer Rate Increase
March 05, 2010
This proposal needs to have a watchful eye on it. The only way I would support any rate increase would be to assure all city taxpayers that this money is EARMARKED ONLY for the replacement of our aged water and sewer lines...........In this campaign, my position is not EVER use the water and sewer funds as a place to t...ake revenues away from to payoff other debt. Good, conservative fiscal responsibility!! Together, we can...

03.04.2010 Columbia City Council Members Vote to Spare Eau Claire Development
March 04, 2010
How can our city countinue to take a beating dealing with Public Safety (Police and Fire) having monies that would help fund the 25 vacancies with CPD and 70 vacancies with CFD...This $600,000 dollars lost would have help the elimination of furloughs and cutting services..........Al...so, in new hiring it costs approx $16,800 dollars to hire a new police or firefighter and get through training...So, this one mistake could have helped put approx. 35 "New Boots on the Ground" or a good start to give back the benefits that were taken away including medical and furlough pay that contributes to the Recruitment and Retention. This is not a personal attack on the citizens of Eau Claire, but a serious error in the judgement on city councils part.......and now to extend this risk again? When taxpayers dollars are at risk one mistake is enough.....This is true conservative fiscal responsibility!!! Together, we can...

To Promote Small Business and New Local Jobs by giving tax incentives will draw more attention to open in the Columbia City Limits....There is way too much vacant space just sitting in all 4 City Council Districts. In this current recessed economy there needs to be a real push for new ideas to bring any National or Loc...al business to Columbia. Sometimes and short solution will yield a long term gain.........The citizens of Columbia cannot afford any new Tax Hikes nor will my campaign support it!!

03.01.10 Engine 8 Back in Service
March 01, 2010
I'm happy to report that Engine 8 today went back in service. This was out of service the better part of the 2009-10 years. It does respond as first due engine for the majority of Columbia Disrict 4. and such vital link to our fire and rescue service. I cannot personally take credit for this, but with Public Safety at ...the top of my campaign platform I will fight that to make sure this truck or any other ever go out of service..........Together, we can.........
